Understanding the category and the wider retail context is of critical strategic and operational importance to Glenisk, helping as it does to ensure our brand and portfolio remains relevant to our loyal customers and continues to attract new customers. It is also what allows us to extend our reach and open new markets for our business. We work to continuously review and improve all products within our portfolio, while also identifying opportunities for new products. We are invested not only in our brand but in the growth and success of the entire category in which we operate.
We are looking for a senior strategic specialist to embed a culture of data-driven insight within our organisation. This talented individual, with experience in understanding consumer needs, global trends and the retail environment by means of analysis of multiple sets of consumer, industry and competitor data and research. This person must have a commercial mindset and a strategic approach.
This is a job for a person who enjoys data and numbers and is fanatical about monitoring, reviewing, analysing and reporting on trends and performance. He or she will be adept at exploring ranging and distribution scenarios and building compelling category strategies that drive sustainable growth. The candidate must work in partnership with our internal teams, but crucially with our retail customers – recognising that their success is our success.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in a category management role is essential. The candidate should have experience in FMCG, ideally grocery and preferably in food.
- A third level qualification in business or marketing is desirable.
- Experience and fluency in data sets including Nielsen, Kantar, Mintel or retailer data platforms is required, along with knowledge of Spaceman and other category management or planogram software.
- The ability to procure, implement and analyse qualitative and quantitative research to strengthen our consumer and industry insights is a must.
- Strong strategic and analytical thinking is essential.
- Excellent relationship building skills are required.
The candidate will have the ability to adapt and react at short notice in a fast-paced environment. The role requires innovation, strategic thinking and a forensic eye for analytics along with excellent organisational skills. Our new colleague will be enthusiastic, hard-working and a great communicator. This is a senior role so we expect a high level of ambition and accountability.
The working week is typically 40 hours – 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. From time to time, members of the commercial team will be required for after hours or weekend work as the role dictates. The role is based at Glenisk’s Sales & Marketing office in Dublin and occasional travel may be required, including trips to Glenisk’s HQ in Tullamore, Co. Offaly.
